If the recently released CE 04 had a younger and more hip sibling it would be the CE 02. Playful and more street smart than its larger sibling the CE 02 is a funky, if expensive, option for urban mobility.
BMW describe the CE 02 as an “eParkourer” and it sits somewhere between an electric bike and electric scooter. Designed to be a blend of playful and practical it comes comes with black disc wheels, 37mm inverted telescopic forks and a single sided swingarm with adjustable preload springs at the rear.
The CE 02 comes equipped with 11kW (15 hp) motor and a 3.92kWh battery that will provide you range of around 55 miles (88 kms) with a top speed of 60mph (96 km/h). BMW are also supplying a lower powered 4kW (5 hp) version which can be ridden on a car licence in some states/countries. This has a maximum speed of 28mph (45 km/h) with 28 miles (45 kms) range.
Weight on the CE 02 is reasonable for an electric scooter, the 4 kW version comes in at 119 kg (262 lb) and the 11 kW version somewhat heavier at 132 kg (291 lb). Seat height is an approachable 29.5 inches (749 mm) with stopping power coming from a 239 mm front disc with ABS and a 220 mm rear disc.
The CE 02 has two ride modes available, Flow and Surf. Flow is more sedate and designed for cruising while Surf is for spirited riding. The CE 02 also comes with a Highline package which provides additional uses for the app including the ability to use your smartphone as an additional display, heated grips and Flash ride mode for a more dynamic ride.
BMW are also offering some accessories with the CE 02, there are Black, Urban and Adventure side cases in 16 litre, 35-42 litre and 50-60 litre options. Or you can go for a light top case which provides 29 litres of storage. Other options provided are luggage carriers and anti-theft alarms.
