The Chinese manufacturer has doubled down on its battery technology to provide a range of up to 200 miles (300 kms) when you go for the dual battery option.
With specs akin to a 125cc combustion scooter the SK3 is designed for the urban commuter looking for more range and power. Need to tackle some highway on your way to the office? Not a problem. Have errands and pickups to do before you head home? Not a problem. Can’t charge your scooter during the day for your return trip? Guess what, it’s not a problem with the SK3.
Ok I may be getting a bit too excited there, top speed in the SK3 is 56 mph (90 km/h) so you won’t want to be on the highway for too long but its 14″ tires and windscreen will provide some stability and protection while you do it.
For range you have two options, the single battery setup provides a range of up to 100 miles (160 kms) or dual batteries for 200 miles (300 kms) of riding. The down side of a dual battery configuration is you lose some internal under seat storage and add additional weight to the scooter.
The Horwin SK3 comes equipped with a 3.1kW motor with a peak power output of 6.2kW. The battery itself is a 72V 36Ah lithium-ion battery with a charge time of 4.5 hours (single battery). Weight is relatively light at 115 kg (254 lbs) but add another 20 kg (44 lbs) to that with the additional battery pack.
Looks wise the SK3 has that voluminous look similar to a Yamaha XMAX300 or Honda PCX160 but looks smart with its bi-LED headlights and smoked windscreen. Suspension is standard fare with telescopic forks and dual rear shock absorbers.
Technology comes via a full TFT display with smartphone connectivity, keyless access and cruise control. The full colour display is good quality and we found it easy to read even in sunlight.
