LiveWire Mulholland vs Del Mar

Livewire S2 mulholland vs S2 Del Mar

We compare LiveWires latest release the Mulholland to its predecessor the Del Mar.

LiveWire has just released its third electric motorcycle the Mulholland, taken from the famous winding road near Los Angeles County in California. So what are the key differences between these two models and which one would be your preferred rider?

Aesthetics

The Mulhollands geometry is somewhat more relaxed and a blend of naked and cruiser motorcycle. Where as the Del Mars inspiration comes from the flat track bikes of the 70s such as the XG750R. Where as the Del Mar has a neutral position the Mulhollands handlebars sit on top of 6 inch risers to provide a more laidback feel. The Mulholland also has a 17 inch rear wheel to bring more weight to the rear where as the Del Mar comes with 19 inch wheels at each end. Combine this with a lower seat height and the Mulholland definitely has a more laid back vibe than its flat track sibling.

Performance

In stand cruiser style the Mulholland has a slimmer front and wider rear tire than the Del Mar, along with different suspension. Whereas the Del Mar is equipped with Showa suspension front and rear the Mulholland comes standard with Hitachi, both have USD forks but the Mulholland has more travel on the front and less on the rear adding to that laid back aesthetic.

Handling

Both the Mulholland and Del Mar use identical powerhouses and battery packs, but they do have some performance differences. They both push our 84 horsepower and 194 pound feet of torque but the Del Mar is 0.3 seconds quicker to reach 60 mph and it has a slightly higher top speed. The Del Mar is also quicker to charge and slightly more range, perplexing when they have the same battery and plug type so I can only think it’s around the how each is programmed to utalise the hardware.
