The Metacycle is a lightweight electric motorcycle designed and built by the engineers at the California-based eBike manufacturer.
This is Sondor’s first electric motorcycle, at US$5000 (€4,270 Euros) with a range of 80 miles (129 kms) it’s the perfect urban short trip commuter and an exciting alternative to public transport.
The Metacycle isn’t expected to ship until the fourth quarter of 2021 but you can secure a place in line with a US$100 deposit via the companies Website.
Metacycle is powered by a 8kWh rear hub motor (peaking at 14.5kWh) and 4000Wh lithium-ion battery which delivers a maximum speed of 80mph (129 km/h). The battery can be fully charged in 4 hours providing a range of up to 80 miles (129 kms).
With a unique look obtained from the “exo-frame” the Metacycle is manufactured from a single piece of cast aluminum, a first in the electric motorcycle industry. Also included is a smartphone compartment with wireless charging and a transparent cover keep the phone protected to allow for navigation on the go.
This lightweight frame combined with an aluminum swingarm help the Metacycle obtain a feathery 200 pound (91 kg) weight. This makes the bike less intimidating and easy to maneuver for less experience motorcycle users and riders converting over from high powered electric bicycles.
The Metacycle comes equipped with an ergonomic seat, single disc brakes both front and rear, a coil rear shock and inverted forks with rebound and compression adjustment. Something not available on much more expensive traditional motorbikes.
