Triumph’s TE-1 is a prototype electric motorcycle with 180bhp and a next-gen Integral Powertrain and Williams battery.
The collaboration between Triumph Motorcycles, Integral Powertrain Ltd, Williams Advanced Engineering and WMG at the University of Warwick is focused on developing an electric motorcycle with innovation and a high level of performance not seen in existing motorcycles to date.
Ok this bike is not a road-going production model yet but it’s also not a pie-in-the-sky fantasy either. The powertrain has been developed by a company founded by ex-Cosworth engineers. The motor weighs in at a floaty 10kg and has an output capable of 180 horsepower. In the same vein the TE-1 boasts a battery that is promised to be lighter, more powerful and have a range better than anything we’ve seen before.
Williams Advanced Engineering is a company can deliver on its promises. Born out of Formula 1 in 2010 this Oxfordshire based company has won the Queen’s Award For Innovation for successfully designing, developing and delivering the batteries for all the cars racing in the Formula E championship.
With Triumph moving into prototyping this year we hope soon to see public demonstration of what the new technologies integrated into TE-1 have accomplished.
