Zero XU Cafe Conversion

Matt from Night Shift Bikes was after a commuter bike that was something different. So he took a 2012 Zero XU and stripped it back to make it his own.

Matt purchased a 2012 Zero XU, a discontinued model that has since been superseded by the FXS and FXE supermotos. He then removed the unnecessary plastic to create a stripped back super light cafe style commuter.

This conversion turned what is an already lightweight bike in the XU to an extremely compact and nimble commuter. Matt has achieved some very impressive conversions, this one didn’t involve metalwork, only bolt-on additions and relocating existing parts.

The XUs existing instrumentation has been moved to the “tank” and an Android tablet has been added to the dashboard. Matt has also added twin headlamps, a new cafe style seat and clip on handlebars.

Here is a list of the changes made in the conversion:

Removed bodywork
Wiring redesign
Clip-on handlebars
Relocated dash components
Custom headlight bracket
New headlamps (KC)
Android dash
Trimmed stock seat mount
Ryca motors cafe seat, taillight unit
