Maeving Release The More Powerful RM1S Electric Motorcycle

Maeving RM1S Electric Motorcycle

With a top speed of 70mph the British motorcycle manufacturer is set to take on the US market with its flagship RM1S model.

The RM1 was already a success for Maeving with its classic looks and quality components but what it did lack was performance. With a power output of 3 kW (4 hp) peaking to 4.4 kW (5.9 hp) and max speed of only 45 mph (72 km/h) it was hardly going to blow your socks off and meant realistically its use was limited to inner city and urban commuting.

The RM1S looks very similar to the original, put them side by side and try and see the difference, but is a much more capable machine. Top speed comes up to 65mph (105 km/h) and power output has doubled to 9.5HP, with a peak of 14HP. This now takes the RM1S to a highway capable motorcycle for riders looking for longer commutes or weekend adventures.

Although not visually obvious the RM1S has been substantially redesigned. Both batteries are now below the ‘fuel tank’ which gives the empty tank 10 litres of lockable storage, something the RM1 was lacking. On board storage for commuter bikes is becoming increasingly an important choice for buyers as it saves lugging a heavy backpack on your shoulders and provides more options for the daily ride.

Priced at US$8995 this puts the Maeving RM1S at a similar price point to the new BMW CE02, another well designed commuter motorcycle/scooter for the urban hipster market.
